A 27-year-old woman comes to her general practitioner with something she has organised her working life around rather than complained about. She stage-manages a touring production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and the first thing she does in every new theatre — before the get-in, before anything — is find out exactly where the toilets are and how long it takes to reach them from the desk. Last month she turned down a promotion, because it would have meant longer unbroken stretches at that desk. This has been going on for about three years.
